What are the Sizes of Diamonds?
The weight of a diamond is measured in carats. Since larger diamonds are rarer than smaller diamonds, diamond value tends to rise exponentially with carat weight.
“Diamond carat weight is the measurement of how much a diamond weighs. A metric “carat” is defined as two hundred milligrams. Each carat can be subdivided into one hundred “points.” This allows very precise measurements to the hundredth decimal place.” -Source: GIA
Remember, there is no right or wrong to carat weight. You may have heard, “to each his own.” Carat weight does not reflect the quality of a diamond. The owner should just feel comfortable with what they are wearing.
